TORONTO 34-12 BULLDOGS

A spirited Batley performance wasn’t enough to overcome a powerful Toronto Wolfpack team after losing 36 – 12 at the KCOM Stadium.

McDermott’s men were soon to open the scoring on the 5th minute as Matty Russell crossed across the line for the 4 pointer. O’Brien couldn’t convert.

Andrew Dixon extended the lead further, coming from a left and right step to dive in. O’Brien this time made the conversion to see the gap become 10 – 0.

Batley did find a chance to slip through a tough opponents defence though as Dane Manning linked up with a combination move to David Scott for a chasing run from halfway to score at the side of the sticks. Scott placed over the extras. Toronto 10 – 6 Batley.

Four more tries did answer back to the one solo Batley try in the first half seeing, Jack Logan, Ricky Leutele (2) and Matty Russell all scoring. O’Brien couldn’t convert the first two, with Ryan Brierley placing over the last.

The whistle blew signalling half-time as Batley trailed 28 – 6.

Once again minutes back into the game Jon Wilkin for the Wolfpack darted over the line. O’Brien added the extras.

Louis Joufrett scored the final try of the evening, collecting a well placed kick to storm through. David Scott converted with just a few ticks left on clock .
