In the midst of a deepening injury crisis at The Fox’s Biscuits Stadium Head Coach Matt Diskin has recruited cover in the shape of two highly rated youngsters.
Reiss Butterworth joins on a one month loan from Bradford Bulls. A prduct of The Bulls Academy, Reiss is a Hooker by trade and also plays in the Halves. He has already made a number of appearances for Bradford following his debut in last season’s Challenge Cup against Featherstone Rovers. Reiss is already looking forward to join the Bulldogs’ squad “I’m very excited about this opportunity and can’t wait to get started”
Danny Sowerby spent time in the junior ranks at Castleford Tigers before also moving to the academy at Bradford Bulls where he quickly grabbed the attention of Matt Diskin. An exciting Half Back, Danny has been training with the Batley squad this season and playing at Castleford Lock Lane and has now signed a contract with the club. Diskin told us “We have had a development plan in place all along for for Danny who is already familiar with our squad and our philosophies having trained with the boys all season. He’s a real talent and fully deserves his chance to step up.”
“We’re fortunate to be able to bring this kind of talent in at short notice and we have to thank BISSA for their help with the loan of Reiss from Bradford”
Both players are expected to travel to The Summer bash at Blackpool this week where The Bulldogs face Dewsbury Rams on Sunday evening, 5.30pm.
