Challenge from The Lane

We’re delighted to welcome National Conference Premier Division Lock Lane to The Fox’s Biscuits Stadium this Sunday, in Round 4 of The Coral Challenge Cup. Amongst their ranks will be former Bulldogs Sean Hesketh and Danny Sowerby, making a return to the famous slope.

Lock Lane make their 20th appearance at the professional stage of the Challenge Cup since forming the club in 1938.
A 37-18 victory over former League 1 side Oxford is their only success over professional opposition but they have managed several notable performances in that period.
Probably the most famous performances were a 14-10 defeat, after leading at halftime, to Huddersfield in 1970 followed by a late revival 26-16 from a strong Doncaster outfit in 2002. Lock Lane hold the amateur record for the most consecutive appearances at the pro stage as they managed to qualify 8 times from 1995-2002.

During one of these appearances in 1999,  the Lane played the Bulldogs at Batley, and an assured 1st half display saw the home side ease through to the 4th round by 40-10.

Admission this Sunday is £10 Adults, £3 Juniors, with Junior season tickets valid on the day.
