A Johnny Campbell hat-trick, a brace from Brad Day and a commanding display from the half-backs set the seal on a superb team performance at Barrow.
The Raiders did take an early lead with a score in the corner before Johnny Campbell hit straight back, finishing a fine move also in the corner. Soon after Batley took the lead as Campbell went over for his second as Jouffret & Galbraith combined straight from a scrum. Brambani was next on the scoresheet as he collected his own kick to score close to the posts, Dave Scott added the extras.
Barrow were struggling to contain a powerful Bulldogs’ pack and just before the break Brad Day charged onto a perfectly timed short ball from Jouffret to finish a fine first half performance, Scott made it 20-6 at Half-Time.
The hosts hit back early in the second period with Dalliemore taking a number of defenders over the line with him in a strong finish. Lifted by the quick score Barrow had their strongest period of the game but the Bulldogs’ defence held strong before Dave Scott finished after a break down the right by Jouffret. Scott converted his own try and his side were back in control. Soon after Campbell raced onto a fine Jouffret kick to complete a well deserved hat-trick. Brad Day added his second with Walker converting to complete the Bulldogs’ scoring before the Raiders crossed late on.
A great all round performance from 1 to 17 against an opponent who have proven very difficult for many sides this season, particularly on their own patch.
Final Score Barrow Raiders 16 – 36 Batley Bulldogs
