MAJOR SIGNING FOR PINK WEEKEND

SAMMY KING IS COMING TO BATLEY BULLDOGS.

Batley Bulldogs are delighted to announce that Sammy King will be singing live at Batley Bulldogs before kick off at the next home fixtue at The Fox’s Biscuits Stadium, against Dewsbury Rams, on 19th August, Kick Off 3pm.

Sammy is known to all as the writer and performer of ‘Penny Arcade’, which became a worldwide hit for Roy Orbison, and he will be singing this iconic song before kick-off.

This game will be the 5th Pink Match The Bulldogs have held in succesive years. In 2014 the Club started what is now known as ‘The Pink Weekend’, raising monies for Breast Cancer Charities. Every penny raised is distributed to these Charities to support the work they do.

Chairman Kevin Nicholas said “When it comes to the Pink Weekend our fans show what great fans they are.
They dig deep and support all that is done to raise money for Charity. We try to make it a full, fun weekend with something for everyone and all we ask is that as many people, supporters, locals and those affected by this cruel disease come and join in, it really is a great atmosphere and we are hoping everyone joins in with Sammy King singing ‘Penny Arcade’ a song everyone in Batley knows”

This year on Friday 17th August from 2pm there will be afternoon cake and coffee or even afternoon tea for those wanting a bit more. On Saturday 18th there is a Gala day with Batley Boys games, bouncy castles, stalls, BBQ and full bar available.

On Sunday 19th August there will be the Pink match with Batley Bulldogs playing in a one-off Pink kit. Again we will have bouncy castles, ducking stool, stocks to drench your enemies in, stalls and live music and off course the addition of Sammy King to top the day.

When approached to join this fantastic fund raising weekend Sammy King said “its such a worthy cause, I would be more than happy to perform”

Everyone knows someone affected by this disease so please support the fundraising by supporting this Charity Weekend.
