PINK PERFECTION!!

The 5th Successive Pink Weekend at Batley Bulldogs has been yet another roaring success. Early estimates suggest this year’s efforts could raise a staggering £14k towards cancer Care and Support in an incredible effort from the Bulldogs supporters and rugby league supporters in general from the area.

The founder and organiser in chief, Beverley Nicholas, is understandably thrilled with the response once again
“Each year it just seems to get better and better and everyone appears to enjoy it. The fact we had a match success against Dewsbury added to the atmosphere but all were there to have a good time.

“As already said this was the 5th Pink Weekend and we have always been amazed by the generosity of our fans. Having previously raised £51,000 over the past 4 Pink Weekends we can now say that to date we have raised over £65,000 in 5 years with money from the Wembley walk next Saturday yet to come in, and be added to the grand total which we are hoping to announce at the next home match on 9th September. But to date we have raised over £14,000 this year, how wonderful is that.

“There can’t be a Rugby League Club with such generous fans as Batley fans and THANK YOU from all the Club for your continued generosity. Yes we may be a small Club but we have the fans with the biggest hearts and deepest pockets. The Pink Weekend is now firmly part of the Batley annual calendar and long may that continue.

“Many people are involved in making the Pink Weekend happen and each year we try to make it a little different. We are sure everyone enjoyed the performance by Sammy King and it was great to see everyone singing along with him. The players looked marvellous in their Pink kits and  the kits had all been previously pledged for and orders for next years kit area already coming in!

“Many took advantage of the Gin and Tonic stall and there were many a cake donated, bought and eaten. The ‘ducking stool’ was again a success, a little chilly for those who thought it was a hot tub, but in they went including the Batley Coach Matt Diskin who created a queue of people willing to pay to dunk him!

“Thank you to everyone”

With next weekends sponsored walk in Wembley rounding off this year’s push, planning will begin for the 2019 Weekend very soon, with some exciting ideas already being considered, thank you to all our friends in the game and Media for your continued support, watch this space!
